Michael Angelo Morales took a giant step toward justice yesterday, thanks to a U.S. Supreme Court decision affirming the constitutionality of lethal injection. “Capital punishment is constitutional,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote, “so there must be a means of implementing it.” Further, as the Press-Enterprise reported, “The high court decided that the three-drug injection method [...]

Protesters the world over are letting China have it with both barrels. Sick and tired of typical Communist behavior — domestic violation of human rights and international repression and butchery in Tibet and Sudan – angry freedom lovers are attempting to disrupt the Olympic Games to make their point. Some national leaders have announced plans to boycott the opening ceremonies scheduled [...]

Southwest Airlines is being sued for “breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and negligent and reckless operation of an aircraft,” as reported in today’s Los Angeles Times. Ignoring those FAA directives just got a lot more expensive. The litigants claim Southwest ”broke its contract with travelers by carrying them on planes that missed safety inspections over a period of [...]

American Airlines, the carrier hit hardest, has cancelled a whopping 2,500 flights as of last Thursday. United [...]

”So, just what is a conservative anyway? Is it true conservatives don’t want anything to change?” My questioner, a pleasant enough young CPA, along with his wife and six other people my wife and I didn’t know, were seated together as guests at a mutual friend’s 25th wedding anniversary celebration. The small talk had turned to politics, and as is my [...]

It’s nice to know big time politicos can mess up like rookies. First, Bill Clinton retells his wife’s Bosnia lies by adding some of his own. I guess legendary liars do not like to be upstaged. Then, Barack Obama, commenting on small-town Pennsylvanian’s lack of jobs, uttered this revealing gem, “It’s not surprising when they get bitter, [...]

Just when I was all set to write about the “Recession That Won’t,” out of the ante room comes the politician Democrats love the most. Bill Clinton, former President, consultant and speech-maker extraordinaire, has taken the time to set us all straight on why his wife lied about her trip to Bosnia in 1995, as Bill had it. Sure, Slick Willy [...]

Following testimony by General David Petraeus and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker before two Senate Committees, President Bush today charted the nation’s war course for at least the next year. The surge troops will be coming home but further troop reductions are unlikely, meaning that about 140,000 American military personnel will remain in Iraq. All things [...]

In less time than the average American spends driving to work, an alcohol related traffic accident will occur somewhere in the United States. On average, a drunk driver crashes every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Upwards of 14,000 Americans are killed by drunk drivers every year. [...]

Built in the 1930s, the neighborhood was always inhabited by the working poor, but long-time residents say it used to be a nice place to live. Rows of tidy homes lined narrow but clean streets. Children played in well-kept front yards, in alleys, or at the nearby park. Many residents worked at the Van de [...]
