Why bother taking prisoners?

If they were fighting our troops while dressed as civilians or as our own troops, <a href="http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Lmdlb2NpdGllcy5jb20vUGVudGFnb24vQ2FtcC83NjI0L3d3SUkuaHRtQXJkZW5uZXM=" rel="nofollow"> just kill them upon capture, by whatever means happens to be convenient </a>.

Yo! Sometime you will have to explain this blog to me. I do not understand it. What happened to the Declaration of Independence? "All men are created equal...have certain inalienable rights, etc.
The other problem I see here is that it is my understanding that some (even many of the men being held in Gitmo) may be innocent. Of course, since they haven't been charged that would be impossible to tell. If our government can deal with the Gitmo men the way it has, then none of us are safe from our own government either.
I do agree that evidence against these guys will be difficult to produce for the reasons you suggest. So what does that mean. Would you actually have then summarily executed without trial. Actually, I don't believe that you stated how you think this situation should be handled.
    Other questions I have:
Have the names of the prisoners at Gitmo ever been published? Have they been listed with the accusations against them?
And last, I can't tell you how weary I am of hearing people like Justice Scalia say that the ruling will lead to the death of more American soldiers. All of the soldiers killed so far and all of the soldiers to be killed in the future are the full responsibility of GW Bush and Co. To say that the Court Justices are in any way responsible for future soldier deaths is ludicrous, misguided, and, I guess, a very good reason for replacing some of these people on the court.
