Speaking Stupidly

In his own words: The President wasn’t there, didn’t know all the facts, but is sure the Cambridge police “acted stupidly.” Support of local police hit a new low as the President spoke, more change we can’t live with:

As his press conference about healthcare was wrapping up, President Obama chose to comment on the arrest of [...]

Liar-in-Chief

The President’s press conference yesterday was a study in deception. For sheer volume, Obama’s duplicity raised the bar of obfuscation. Richard Nixon would have blushed. Dick Morris nailed several of Obama’s fabrications in the following article. After Morris you’ll find an Associated Press piece titled “FACT CHECK: Obama’s Health Care Claims Adrift?” When the state-owned media [...]

California Nightmare Not Over

“Another tricky budget devised for California” headlines the following column by Sacramento Bee writer Dan Walters. Based on what Walters writes, I’ll lay 5 to 2 that the Golden State’s budget will again be in the red before this year is out. Maybe sooner. Please refer to Lone Star Archetype for hints on how to remedy [...]

Lock and Load

Included in President Obama’s healthcare proposal is the onerous notion of paying for abortions with taxpayer money. Until now, the federal government has had the good sense to understand just how repugnant abortion is to many Americans. While defending a woman’s right to chose, neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton proposed government-funded abortions. However, Obama’s hard charge to [...]

Lone Star Archetype

Quick, which state has a part-time legislature, no income tax, and a booming economy? Kevin D. Williamson explains why Texas leads the nation in so many positive catagories, providing a model for troubled states like California and the nation. The following article appeared in National Review under the title “Going Alamo: Why jobs and companies [...]

A Cool Trillion

Spending money like it can just print the stuff, the federal government has squandered slightly more than $1 trillion through the first nine months of this fiscal year. What’s so bad about that? Every dollar was borrowed or printed, that’s what. According to CNNMoney.com’s Catherine Clifford, “By the end of fiscal 2009, the government expects to be [...]

African Odyssey

Barack Obama’s speech in Ghana provided an unvarnished glimpse into the man’s soul. Dissecting the various themes running throughout the oration reveals a man chock full of contradictions, empty rhetoric, and most of all — himself. Missing an opportunity to plow new ground on pressing African issues, Obama contented himself to repeat “the same things about [...]

A Second Stimulus!?

The National Debt Road Trip:

Paul Krugman, noted columnist for the New York Times, has come out in favor of another stimulus plan. The proverbial feather could knock me down. How can such a smart man be so wrong? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. America’s intelligentsia of the 1920s and 1930s bought communism hook, line and [...]
