1 For You, 19 For Me.

The title is from the Beatles “The Tax Man” which also contains “be thankful I don’t take it all.” Following is an interesting take on American tax policy by a retiring reporter. Even if this is bogus, it’s still spot on:

They Never Learn

California’s new law, imposing a tax on Internet transactions, is a case study in futility. Instead of raising tax revenue, AB 28X will serve to discourage commerce and thus thwart California’s attempt to balance its budget. The following article is instructive, if anyone cares to learn:

Keep An Eye On Illinois

As California’s new governor, Jerry Brown, contemplates tax increases to help solve the state’s ongoing budget crisis, residents of the Golden State would do well to keep an eye on Illinois. Faced with a similar fiscal picture, lawmakers in the Land of Lincoln have decided to dramatically raise taxes. The following article posits the pluses [...]

The New Obama

Defending his latest tax plan, President Obama yesterday sounded like Ronald Reagan. Here’s the simple truth; lower taxes produce jobs, and ultimately higher tax revenues as more Americans earn a living and pay the inevitable taxes for doing so. Following is part of President Obama’s statement, inescapable logic that was soundly rejected by House Democrats [...]

No Budget? Spend Anyway!

Reluctant to vote on a bloated budget and be accountable, most House Democrats have decided on the process described in the following article. If it isn’t against the law, it should be. As profligate spending continues (and it will) and huge deficits continue to pile up (and they will), the next big push will be [...]
