The Week of May 12, 2008

Michelle Obama’s negativity and pettiness coupled with Hillary’s stubborn refusal to throw in the towel may be John McCain’s ticket to the White House. A Obama/Clinton ticket would unite the Democratic Party, assuring victory. Fortunately for Republicans, Michelle Obama has already nixed that possibility.

Burma’s ruling military thugs have revealed their base natures, refusing much of the aid offered by a world willing to help in the wake of a killer cyclone. While many of their countrymen are starving, Burmese leaders are selling valuable rice to neighboring countries.

Almost three years after Katrina flooded New Orleans, some residents are still living in FEMA trailers. The government will begin closing FEMA trailer parks next month, and the hapless citizens will be forced to fend for themselves. Coming soon: overwrought, pitiable wards of the state on CNN.

Mexican drug lords, feeling the pinch from stepped up law enforcement activity, are striking back. Hundreds of Mexican officials have been killed, including the head of the national police force. One more reason to close the southern border.

Andruw Jones got two hits…last week! He’s batting an anemic .170 and still has only 1 home run and 4 RBIs. OK, the Dodgers won’t let me play, but can’t I get a shot at General Manager?

This and more coming at you in this second full week in May.

Hey, I am looking forward to this week’s blogs. It is a good thing that nobody listens to the candidate’s wives, so I don’t think Michelle’s commens will carry any impact in the election. No more so than Mrs. McCain’s refusal to divulge her tax information.
Here comes my prediction for November (something I rarely do anymore because I believe that our personal and national concerns and conditions now change on almost a weekly basis): I believe that Obama will be the Dem candidate and he will defeat McCain by 7 to 10 million votes in the general election. Of course, I cannot predict what election chicanery the Republicans are capable of, but that large a margin should make their cheating difficult, chads or not.
I know Emily asked a favor of you re the Mormons. Now I will ask for one. Would you consider blogging on the 70 Evangelical leaders who signed a proclamation to remove religious influence and interference from politics - this was reported in he LA Times, I believe, on Friday. Interesting to me because I have always felt that religion should be above politics and not mixed in with it. Some Christians are apparently beginning to se the downside of getting the churches involved in the muck and mire of politics. Of course, maybe I misread the whole thing!!
Original sin?? You should have a good time convincing me of that one. Actually I heard that one day, Adam and Eve were walking through the Garden when Eve suddenly said” You know I think that we should be getting more fruit in our diet.” And the rest, as they say, is history.
